Project Profile & Marketing Aspects
The Project:-
The project is intended to provide clean natural mineral drinking bottled water for the local market specially Khartoum state. The projects capacity is estimated at 360,000 liters per day of natural mineral water produced according to the international specifications.
Location:-
The factory will be located in Khartoum state which has abundant high quality underwater deposits i.e. aquifers.
Other main reasons are:
- Availability of land to accommodate all the factory's functional activities and providing non-functional buildings.
- Availability of essential services and the factory's location is not distant from the national roads grid.
Demand:
On the basis of several conservative estimated the absolute daily amount of domestic water consumption in Khartoum state is 140,000 cu.m. And 992,000 cu.m for the whole country. Demand is expected to rise according to the population rate of increase of 2.6 annually to about 1.3 million cu. Meter for the country in 2010 and 211,200 cu. Meter for Khartoum state.
Most of the domestic water supply including drinking water in Khartoum is obtained through reticulation. However and in view of the availability of clean bottled water a sizable segment of the population, mainly in Khartoum state, prefer such vital product regardless of the cost. The shifting from reticulated water to bottled mineral drinking water is expected to increase dramatically if the existing level of income persists the estimated demand for bottled mineral water will be in the range of 218,000 cu. Meters intake for the country as a whole and 28,000 cu.m for Khartoum state. Consumption figures will increase in the year 2010, as forecasted before to 257,000 cu.m and 84,000 cu.m for the country and Khartoum state respectively.
The above estimates are related to the population income configuration. In the long-run commodity quantities may further be adjusted as income levels rise. This initial quantification of current demand is based on the percentage of high income groups.
Conclusion:-
Local natural mineral water production compared to the estimated current demand of 28,000 cu.m & the envisaged demand of 84,000 cu.m in 2010 for Khartoum state alone is very low even negligible. The need for more mineral water production units is far more too obvious.+
Estimated total Investment: 4,799,000 USD
